At the swimming pool until today, chlorine remains the most important means of decontaminating water. Unfortunately, mainly due to the pollutants of the human body, in its use as a disinfectant there are chloramines (a characteristic odor of chlorine), which have harmful effects mainly on the human body but they also wear out the materials and facilities of a swimming pool.
For this reason, legislation in different states sets the level of combined chlorine, not to exceed a limit (max 0.5mg / l in Greece). So the most widespread solution to keep the combined chlorine at the levels set by the legislation is to replenish water.
So large amounts of fresh water are consumed to keep chlorine in the limits of the legislation. There is a lot of waste of natural resources (there are many tourist and not only areas that have a serious problem with the sufficiency of water). At the same time, this solution brings additional consumption of chemical and thermal energy.
Also, as more chemicals are added to the pool, they increase the concentration of total dissolved solids TDS. When their concentration is high, you need renewal or replacement of pool water.
Another reason that water renewal will be needed is an increase in isocyanuric acid> 70 ppm (the desired <70 ppm).
All of the above led us to develop a know-how where its main goal was to reduce the consumption not only of chlorine but of the total chemicals which are used in a swimming pool.
